The guitarist is possibly my favourite of the musicians I've sketched there. His style and expression of music was brilliant—every note seemed to tell a story, every chord resonated with feeling. The colours of this piece just sum up a jazz feeling to me: warm, vibrant, and full of energy. I often take my sketchbook along to these evenings, free sketching to the rhythm of the music, and this painting captures one of those special moments when music and art become one.
